Commissioner in Earlier Days

On the evening of August 6, 1989, your Commissioner
threw out the first ball at the Oklahoma City 89er-Louisville Redbirds
game. He rode in from the bullpen in a little cart, stood on the mound to
the cheers of the crowd of literally hundreds, and threw a slider low and
away. What an honor for the SWBL!
On the left you can see in the background the foot of
Julio Franco's future replacement.
On the right the catcher is giving him a ball which now
resides in the Room of Fame. Also pictured is his driver. She chose not to
reside in the Room of Fame.
